Joyce first name was Florence and had  a twin sister.  Edith being the eldest twin  by a few minutes and  according to mum the "Bossy One". She also had an elder bother about 2yrs old when she born in 9 Pipe Lane St Augustines Parade Bristol during the 1st World War. Both Florence and Edith were named after 2 famous nurses Florence Nightingale & Edith Cavell.  Because her mother was very ill  and her husband died fighting in the trenches Joyce was sent to live with a childless aunt & uncle in South Wales being brought happily up as their child until about the age of 5yrs old.
